Under the title “Multidisciplinary Studies in Universities, Enterprise and Society”, CIS University held the fourth edition of its UES International Conference (2024), mainly addressing in its conferences and articles the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on society, education and enterprise in the 21st century.
The day began with a few words of welcome from the Academic Dean, Dr. Francisco Ubierna, followed by the presentation in English by Dr. António Baía Reis, Director of RDI of the Asterius Group, entitled “Tech Meets Art: Leveraging Emergent Media for Social Change“, in which, as a documentary, Dr. Baía recounted his journey to locate a public sculpture of great symbolic value that disappeared on the Island of Madeira, as well as the social implications and the use of technology to spread his view on this incident.
After the inaugural conference, the attendees were distributed in work groups in the assigned classrooms to present and communicate their respective articles and research. These texts have been carefully compiled in a publication of 19 chapters, spread over 272 pages.
In the words of the president of CIS University, Ms. María Díaz de la Cebosa: ”The work ‘Multidisciplinary Studies in University, Business and Society’, from this now fourth congress, addresses the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence in four main blocks: business, literature, history and education. Even with the evident interrelation between several of them, this classification allows us to make a presentation of them that makes it easier for the reader to search for those that are most in line with their lines of interest.
In this fourth volume, researchers from numerous European institutions present their studies, and I am proud to have the participation of several CIS University students who have wanted to collaborate with the results of the research they have developed in their university activity.
This book should be inspiring to readers, so I encourage you to read and enjoy it, which, without a doubt, will help us develop a wide range of perspectives of analysis and reflection that are so necessary in today’s society.”
As the president pointed out, the participation and inclusion of several students as researchers and authors of published articles further reinforced the commitment to permanent educational innovation, which at CIS University we defend through the close joint collaboration between teachers and students.
We can affirm that the event was a resounding success, promoting a continuous exchange of ideas and experiences. We are convinced that the activities and conclusions drawn from UES 2024 will significantly contribute to enriching and strengthening training, as well as the links between researchers, teachers and students, preparing them to face the challenges that technology and artificial intelligence will create in the future.
We sincerely thank all the organizers, researchers and participants for making UES 2024 a true success. We look forward to the next event: UES 2026!
