The Inspiring Journey of Camshitos, a Company Founded by CIS University Students

By Álvaro Oliveros and Fermín Bigeriego

Creating a company or a brand is an idea that many people consider, but in many cases, it merely remains only as an idea. This did not happen to CIS University students Cameron Ndongo, Guzmán Miguelez, and David López, founders of Camshitos, a clothing brand born just a year ago.

“Ideas are achievable for everyone, imagining something in your head is very easy and requires no effort, but what differentiates someone who has clear ideas from someone who doesn’t is their level of consistency and what they do to make it happen,” says Cameron Ndongo, one of the founders of “Camshitos”.

Cameron, Guzmán, and David met at CIS University in their freshmen year. Now they are sophomore students. Guzmán and David are Business Majors, while Cameron is pursuing a degree in Marketing Communication.

The process of turning an idea into reality is not easy. It takes time, effort and most of the time, many many attempts.

Making this idea a reality was not an easy job. It was a journey full of sleepless nights, research, planning, and lots of stress at some points, but all this suffering has been worth it”, says Guzmán Miguelez.

The first thing the three of them started with was to identify their main target. This is a difficult task but it is one of the most important steps. Once they had their target ready, the next thing the team did was to search for suppliers.

“Finding suppliers was not an easy process, as there are many and we had to compare the pros and cons of each of them,” said Cameron Ndongo. Once they had the supplier, they had to focus on the creation of the logo and their first designs for the new collection they would launch. After many tries and significant time, they finally achieved both of their goals, the creation of their logo and their first clothing design.

Their First Collection

Their first collection was based on the union of the three members of the clothing brand. They focused on selling hoodies and t-shirts, as they concluded that those two products would be the best sellers. Once the hard part was over, they had to begin with the creation of the online website.

This was an easy job, between the three of us we had enough knowledge to create it,” said Cameron Ndongo.

After the entire process of creating the logo, the online website, and having their first designs ready, Camshitos was ready to launch its first collection at the beginning of 2023.

“Our first drop came out on the 1st of March of 2023,” said Guzmán Miguelez. After that, the brand launched multiple collections, such as the “summer collection” or the “Night Colors Show Collection.” “Seeing where we are today and comparing it with when this was all just an idea makes the three of us very proud of ourselves,” said Guzmán Miguelez.

They have been able to perfect everything, their quality has improved, they offer more sizes than in the beginning and they have many loyal customers.

I bought one of their T-shirts because of a friend of mine who spoke to me about the brand. The quality and the designs are something else, I really like it and I will keep buying their clothes” said Miguel Gutierrez, a loyal customer of the brand. Another thing the three of them had to work hard on was their marketing strategy. “This actually wasn’t as hard as we thought. I am studying Marketing at CIS University and it has helped me quite a lot,” said Cameron Ndongo.

Thanks to the contacts and knowledge they have, the team of three is promoting their brand all over the country little by little and is starting to see a future that is brighter than ever.

This brand is very young; this is just the beginning, and the future will be a totally different story”, said Guzmán Miguelez. The team aims for growth and innovation. They are looking forward to dropping new collections, collaborating with artists or other local brands, and most importantly, expanding and ultimately going international. This is just the beginning of something that they hope will keep growing through the years.
