Mens sana in corpore sano. Romans were right, and so are we.

Finding the balance between physical and mental performance is a double challenge for our college athletes, but it is proven that this combination is beneficial for the overall development of the students. Both for their academic and athletic careers and their personal growth as well.

However, a day in the life of a student athlete is often exhausting and that is why at CIS University we have created the Student Athlete Program to work on the motivation and mental toughness of our college athletes.

‘Thanks to CIS University, I’m growing as an athlete, a professional and as a person’. That is what Camila Guillén, a student of our Elite Soccer University Program, said and we can not sum it up any better.

Nowadays, as exposed in this Yahoo Finance article, college athletes’ revenues are skyrocketing thanks to advertising and product promotion on their social networks, and this puts the academic results of these students at risk.

But we know that high-level athletic careers don’t last a lifetime, so these young athletes have to be prepared to redirect their professional career when the moment arrives. Because of this, at CIS University we make available from day one our team of specialists to work closely with each student and ensure the maximum academic and athletic development.

Daily routine of a student athlete

College athletes’ life is not easy. According to NCAA surveys, athletes who combine their athletic career with college studies spend more than 40 hours a week training.

Can you imagine what it would be like to get a college degree while working full time?

Well, somehow, that is what student athletes do. And, in addition to studying and training, they must set enough time to rest, enjoy family and friends or just disconnect. So, it is a fact that happy people perform much better, both physically and mentally than people with excessive worries or anxiety. The emotional factor, therefore, becomes crucial to obtaining the best results.

Would you like to know what a day in the life of a student athlete is like?

Every student has his own personalized routine but, in most cases, they get up early to do some workout and keep fit, then have breakfast, go to university and spend afternoons training until dinner time. The rest of the day is usually dedicated to studying or going out with friends.

And, if that weren’t enough, during the competition season, college athletes travel on weekends to participate in sporting events or matches. But, depending on the sport and the distance of the trip, these travels can even take place from Wednesday to Sunday.
